Notes

" Bell Trees"  were found in the churchyards of Scottish Churches which were normally built without a Belfry. The Trees , were Oak, Beech or Ash supported a Bell or Bells which were rung to summon the congregation of the Parish. Many of these Trees became redundant in the 19th Century as more and more Belfrys were built on to the Church.
