Notes

Roquedur le Haut is a hamlet in Occitanie and has an elevation of 596 metres. Roquedur le Haut is situated west of L'Aumède, and southeast of Esperies. The hamlet of Roquedur-le-Haut owes its origin to a medieval castle of which only vestiges remain today. E. Germer-Durand dates the first mention of the place to 875, in the cartulary of the chapter of Nîmes 25 . In the Middle Ages, the castle of Roquedur entered by marriage into the house of Ginestous .

During the crusade against the Albigenses , the fortified town established around the rock of Roquedur, the castrum exunatis , saw its defenses ruined by order of the King of France. Baron d'Hierle stayed there for some time before being able to settle in Aulas .

In 1654 , Christophe de Montfaucon, Baron de Vissec , Baron d'Hierle, ceded the land of Roquedur to Daniel de Montcalm for financial reasons.

In the 19th century, the town participated in the development of silk spinning in the Cévennes: two spinning mills, of short-lived duration (1830-1860) were identified 26 .

In the 1970s, a case of leishmaniasis led a Franco-British team of researchers led by Professors Jean-Antoine Rioux and Robert Killick-Kendrick to come and study sandflies locally . The campaign continued for twenty years. The results allowed a better understanding of the vectors of leishmaniasis in France.
