Henry Victor Martin was born in 1811. He studied in Birmingham and St Bartholomews Hospital, London. He became a member of the Royal college of Surgeons of England in 1834 and a fellow in 1859. He was surgeon to the 1st Devon Militia before taking medical charge of the military wards of the Barrington Hospital, Limerick. He practiced at Staines, Middlesex, before retiring to Hoinslow, and later Epsom college. He deild in 1901.
